The Women’s Regional Consortium has published its 2025–2026 Annual Report, showcasing a year of advocacy, research, and direct engagement with women in disadvantaged and rurally isolated communities across Northern Ireland.

The report highlights the Consortium’s continuing role as a vital link between women, community organisations, government and statutory agencies, ensuring that women’s lived experiences help shape policy and decision-making.

Throughout the year, the Consortium worked across five key areas — advocacy and leadership, policy, research, service support, and engagement — to amplify women’s voices and address the issues affecting their daily lives, including poverty, childcare, women’s health, economic inactivity, mental health, and violence against women and girls.

Among the year’s key achievements were sustained advocacy on the Anti-Poverty Strategy, childcare, and the successful campaign to scrap the two-child limit, as well as the publication and dissemination of major research on women’s health, climate and food resilience, and the role of firearms in violence against women and girls.

The report also highlights the scale of community engagement carried out by Consortium partners, with women across Northern Ireland supported through wellbeing programmes, employability initiatives, leadership development, peer support, information events, and practical services rooted in local communities.

The Women’s Regional Consortium is made up of seven organisations working together to support and empower women:

  • Training for Women Network (Lead Partner)
  • Northern Ireland Rural Women’s Network
  • Women’s Resource and Development Agency
  • Women’s Support Network
  • Women’sTec
  • Foyle Women’s Information Network
  • Women’s Centre Derry

The Annual Report demonstrates the breadth and depth of this partnership’s work and underlines the importance of continued investment in women’s organisations and grassroots leadership.
