Minister for the Economy, Dr Caoimhe Archibald MLA, has formally launched a public consultation on modernisation and reform of Credit Unions.
DfE officials have co-designed the proposed policy changes with Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) and Ulster Federation of Credit Unions (UFCU). Views are now sought on priorities for legislation and assisting credit unions to implement changes.
Your responses to this consultation will directly shape how the Department develops these proposals. The consultation will inform the design of new legislation to significantly enhance the capacity of credit unions, enabling them to better serve local communities for decades to come.
Further information and the relevant Impact Assessments are available on the Department’s website at:
The closing date of the consultation is Thursday 10th July 2025.
