The Department of Health is consulting on the Reform of the Adult Social Care System in Northern Ireland.   Adult Social Care is a vital part of our Health and Social Care System and impacts on the lives of people across society including people who use social care services, family carers and the people who work in social care.

The pandemic has shone a light on the invaluable role social care plays in people’s lives and the wellbeing of society. It has also revealed the many challenges faced in the provision of adult social care and the need to reform the social care system.  Longer term and transformational change is needed to sustain the essential services adult social care provides to people in need and those who care for them.

Siobhán has organised a number of focus groups to discuss this consultation and will use the evidence gathered from these to make a Consortum response.  If you think you could get a group of women together to discuss this issue or have anything to add on an individual basis please contact Siobhán asap at policy@wsn.org.uk to discuss.

The deadline for responses to this consultation has now been extended to Friday 1st July 2022 and the consultation is available here
