The Women’s Regional Consortium has carried out research with over 240 women across Northern Ireland to identify and explore the impact of the Cost of Living Crisis on their lives. Together with Ulster University this data has been analysed and collated to paint a picture of how women on the lowest incomes are being impacted by the increasing cost of basic essentials.
We are pleased to launch the research report “Women and the Cost of Living Crisis” in Ulster University. Based on the views and experiences of women, the findings show how the Crisis negatively impacts women, their children and families. Many reported using their savings or getting into debt to buy basic essential items, going without food to feed their children and having to cut back on heat and electric in order to cope with the Crisis.
Based on the findings, the research paper includes a series of recommendations for policy makers and Government to help women better survive the ongoing Cost of Living Crisis.
